Two Arrests in the Aftermath of Heathrow ‘Pepper Spray’ Incident
Two more people have been arrested related to a theft at London's Heathrow Airport in which over twenty individuals were injured by what is thought to be an irritant spray, according to law enforcement.
A 24-year-old man, was taken into custody in Lambeth for suspected robbery and assault and a 23-year-old woman was arrested on suspicion of conspiracy to commit robbery. Both individuals remain in custody, authorities confirmed.
These detentions come after a probe into an assault at the multi-storey car park at Terminal 3 this past Sunday. Prior to the attack, two women had stolen from them their luggage upon exiting a car park lift.
A three-year-old girl was one of the those hurt in the event. Five people were taken to the hospital for treatment and have since been released.
Officers detained a 31-year-old man for suspected theft and assault close to the location. He has since been released pending further inquiries while inquiries continue.
Authorities were called at approximately 08:10 GMT after reports came in regarding several individuals injured by a noxious substance thought to be an irritant spray.
The assault - an event that authorities stated was a standalone incident and not considered terrorism - caused delays to rail services and the partial closure of the main airport tunnel and the Terminal 3 car park for a short time.
