Note: Spoilers for the third episode of Campaign 4 follow below.
The Combat-Oriented Party Revealed
Episode 3 ended with a major cliffhanger and revealed the first table of characters who will separate from the central cast to embark on their own adventure, apart from the other two tables.
The Soldiers table includes the determined fighter (portrayed by Travis), the agile character (the talented performer), the strong-willed figure (Whitney), Wicander Halovar (Sam Riegel), and the mysterious adventurer (Robbie Daymond).
The Reason for Division
With 13 cast members, it was evident from the start that maintaining everyone at a single group would be unfeasible.
That’s why, the initial installments of the new season serve as an Prelude, intertwining the personal journeys before dividing into three separate parties: Soldiers, Strategists, and Seekers.
What Defines the Combat Party
According to the DM, the Soldiers table is for participants who are drawn to a classically intense battle-oriented gameplay experience where diplomatic options are rare.
At first glance, characters like the squeamish cleric the cleric might seem out of place, but the developments of the latest installment make it clear why these specific adventurers are best suited for the Soldiers table.
Reasons to Leave
For one thing, the team understands precisely where to head next after a brutal initial meeting with the enemy group.
Casimir of Thjazi Fang—whose demise initiated the campaign’s events—used The Crow Keepers for his personal gain, breaking into the hidden lair, striking the character, and stealing all the enchanted items to auction.
Casimir then paid off his debts and ran away to a Halovar stronghouse in Gormalay, Timmony, above the city, with Teor’s brother close behind.
Personal Motivations
Secondly, each member has a specific drive to depart Dol-Makjar:
- The rogue, as Thjazi’s partner and trusted friend, desires retribution.
- The adventurer is familiar with the northern area and warns that it is a dangerous location.
- The strong character and Wicander, having resisted his family’s wishes to execute Teor and instead rescued him, have no safe haven.
- But, their position as important members in the influential clan could enable the team reach places they normally couldn’t.
- Additionally, The fighter vowed a unbreakable promise to Wicander for his rescue and will now follow him wherever.
Wanted and Hunted
Finally, all of them are sought by the authorities that rule the setting for a variety of reasons, making remaining behind dangerous:
- Thimble and The character are known criminals.
- The warrior and The healer turned against the influential house and the legion of demons they are allied with.
- The fighter is wanted dead by House Halovar.
This leaves them no alternative but to head to the northern region in search of the traitor.
What’s Next?
From the recent installment’s post-show segment, we find out that the combat party will be absent in the upcoming installment, leaving the remaining eight participants to round up the Explorers and Planners tables.
